TRAILS ILLUSTRATED-BUFFALO NATIONAL RIVER-EAST HALF This Trails Illustrated map of the Buffalo National River, East Half, includes the Leatherwood Wilderness and Lower Buffalo Wilderness areas. The base of this waterproof map is from USGS topo maps, with hiking and horse trails, roads, campgrounds, and other features added. The East Half map covers the river from Woolum to the White River, and shows routes of access to the river and wilderness, and floaters' car-shuttle routes. Map users will find it easy to calculate the mileage of any trail hike or river trip. The map contains text information for hikers, floaters, horseback riders, for anyone wanting to explore the Buffalo. It makes a good companion to the BUFFALO RIVER HIKING TRAILS guidebook (the guidebook shows more trails and has a LOT more descriptive text, and should be your first choice and main reference source - this map is for those who like the added detail of topos).
The map is printed in four colors on waterproof, tearproof plastic. Map design and text are by Ken Smith, with cooperation from the National Park Service and U.S. Forest Service.
Also available is the West Half map, which covers the river from its headwaters downstream to Woolum.
