TRAILS ILLUSTRATED-BUFFALO NATIONAL RIVER-WEST HALF This Trails Illustrated map of the Buffalo National River, West Half, covers the Buffalo from its headwaters downstream to Woolum, including the Upper Buffalo Wilderness area. The base of this waterproof map is from USGS topo maps, with hiking and horse trails, roads, campgrounds, and other features added, plus floaters' car-shuttle routes. Map users will find it easy to calculate the mileage of any trail hike or river trip. The map contains text information for hikers, floaters, horseback riders, for anyone wanting to explore the Buffalo. It makes a good companion to the BUFFALO RIVER HIKING TRAILS guidebook (the guidebook shows more trails and has a LOT more descriptive text, and should be your first choice and main reference source - this map is for those who like the added detail of topos).
The map is printed in four colors on waterproof, tearproof plastic. Map design and text are by Ken Smith, with cooperation from the National Park Service and U.S. Forest Service.
Also available is the East Half map, which covers the river from Woolum to the White River.
