DIRECTIONS TO CLOUDLAND and the BUFFALO RIVER GALLERY

There is also a crude map at the bottom of the page

NOTICE: There are is no gas, food, or restroom available within 20 miles of Cloudland in any direction. If you come through any of the following communities these will be your LAST chance for any type of food, gas, or restroom - Deer/Nail (quickstop), St. Paul (quickstop), Kingston (quickstop), Compton (quickstop), or Jasper. It is a long trip over rough gravel roads to reach our gallery, but the trip will be worth it. There are no facilities at the gallery so be sure to eat and pee before you arrive!

FROM FAYETTEVILLE (about an hour and a half drive) - Take Hwy. 16 East out of Fayetteville through Elkins, St. Paul (be sure to make the right turn a couple miles past St. Paul), and Pettigrew. Continue on Hwy. 16 until you come to Red Star - there will only be a highway sign, an abandoned building and a school building under construction there - no real civilization.

- Go past Red Star 6/10ís of a mile and TURN LEFT onto a gravel road #3595/FR#1271. Do NOT turn at Red Star. Continue on this gravel road for 6.9 miles - stay with the main road, the one with mailboxes on it.

- At 6.9 miles you will pass a small dirt parking lot on the left (this is for the Hawksbill Crag Trail). Continue past this lot until you come to three mailboxes on the right - the last one is a large black steel mailbox with the outline of three bears on top. TURN RIGHT just past these mailboxes onto a smaller gravel road. (If ou miss this road, you will come to a church on the left - simply turn around there and go back about a half mile and turn at the three mailboxes.)

-Stay on this smaller gravel road and continue straight ahead whenever you can. At the one mile point you will go past a little cabin on the right - this is the Faddis Cabin - be sure to go straight ahead at this cabin, across an open field (the main road turns sharply back to the left here).

-You will enter the woods again, then come to the Cloudland entrance sign - proceed straight ahead. -Then you will come to a fork in the road - TURN RIGHT and continue down the road to get to the cabin and Buffalo River Gallery. The little road goes down the hillside just a little, then becomes a circle drive which ends at the cabin - limited parking is available in between the cabin and the Gallery building, which is to the left.

FROM SPRINGDALE(about an hour and a half drive)
- Take Hwy. 412 East from Springdale through Hindsville and Huntsville, and on to the community of Marble (you will have to slow down going through this wide spot in the road).

This area is part of the Buffalo National River.

- From this intersection, go 1.2 miles on Hwy. 21 South (over two bridges and past Boxley Church) and TURN RIGHT onto a gravel road - this gravel road is just before you cross a third bridge, which is the Buffalo River.
