11/07/24The Great Fall Flood of 2024. I emptied our rain guage three days in a row last weekend - it topped out at 4.25" each time. Got two inches the night before so we had a total of almost 15" of rain during this past weekend - that's gotta be the most I've ever recorded in such a short time. Not funny, but kinda funny - this was after more than TWO MONTHS with zero rainfall, and it was just two weeks ago the entire area's water supply was cut off for several days due to main water line break (including 12 different communities!).

11/13/24 We went over to Lake Norfork yesterday and camped just below the Dam on the banks of the Norfork River. This morning we got up and caught a TROUT - in mid-air! It was my first time at this - trying to photograph a spawning trout leaping up a waterfall. I hope it's not my last! (totally unrelated, but last evening before we got to camp we stopped at a GREAT restaurent in Mtn. Home for takeout - Little B's Grill. I had FISH tacos - the BEST I've ever had! (they use actual fillets of grilled fish, not chunks of fried fish). YUM!

STRONG winds tonight that are blowing around tons of leaves and causing the big trees to dance like crazy. It's fun walking through all of that in the light of an almost-full moon (that will be full on Friday)...

11/17/24 We had a spectacular light show in the back yard yesterday morning (photo above), but also another one last evening at sunset and again after the moon rose - the sky was filled with giant jet trails that looked like godbeams, and they lasted for an hour (I did not get any photos). Then, Little Miss Mia woke me up early today and led me out to the back deck where the entire eastern sky was brilliant orange (again, no pics - my eyes weren't quite open yet, OR I was so enjoying the colors at dawn I just forgot, yes, let's go with that!).

11/18/24 Still lots of COLOR around our place right now - especially in young OAK trees that live low to the ground (they will grow up to be tall and mighty in a few decades perhaps). Photos above are of the same leaf. A little rain overnight, but it looks like a nice storm system will roll through this afternoon - we could use a couple inches of RAIN this week.
